Meet Neil Moser & Jackie Johnson

Meet Neil Moser & Jackie Johnson

Retirement just didn't suit Neil Moser and Jackie Johnson. The couple, who has owned a number of resorts over the years, had sold off some of their holdings and was supposed to be taking life easy. But they soon found they were bored and missed the activity of resort ownership. So they bought Birch Bay resort in 2011 and are thrilled to be back in the vacation business.

The resort, which overlooks Francois Lake, is located 31 kilometres out of Fraser Lake and is literally "the end of the road." Isolated, remote and yet easy to access, it affords Neil and Jackie as well as resort guests a tranquil, peaceful and spectacular place to spend time. "There is an abundance of wildlife out here," notes Jackie, who adds that she recently spotted a mama fox and her pups ambling about near the property. Friendly deer by the dozens are also frequent resort "guests." Jackie says, "It's wonderful out here. There is absolutely no noise out here other than nature sounds. There's no highway noise and no railroads."

Besides the amazing scenery and the peaceful beauty of their natural surroundings, Neil and Jackie love the people that they host and entertain throughout the season. In fact it was all the people, they say, that they missed most about their short-lived retirement. "We've met people from all over the world," Jackie points out. She adds that many of their guests come back year after year and feel almost like family.
